“Darkness is always thought of as evil or some big Goth, or sometimes a really bad pop band. I don’t know why. I look as a good thing. Somewhere to hide to hide from the real bad  things, like sun burn and cancer. I like my dark little room with no lights. I can play my computer games better.” this was the excuse he gave his mother to not go outside.

“Its not working today. It’s a beautiful day outside. You should be playing football. The fair is even here , but you still have to sit in that blasted room of yours with no windows.” She ranted

“ You’re the one that gave me the room” he agued back

“you could always put the light on.”

“I’m saving energy” His mother sighed, closed the door and thumped down the stairs. While Mathew  hide under his covers and continued to play his game boy. He was never popular and if he did go out side he would get fun burn with his fair freckled skin. he wouldn’t play football because all the other boys would laugh at how bad he played with his thick glasses. And at the fair there wasn’t many rides, he was afraid rides, never won raffles and wasn’t allowed  aloud to much sugary treats like candy floss.  So he seen no point in going out. It would only upset him. So he sat inside inside his room playing games all day long. Most people think he would know nothing , but if anything he knew to much. He knew how cruel and harsh the out doors could be. He vowed to never step out his room, if he could avoid it.

“Mathew ! Dinners ready!” his mother shouted up the stairs.

“could you bring it up?” he yelled back.

“No move!” she holed in anger. Mathew gave a horrible grown like it was his mother being lazy. He struggled out of his bed and squeezed out the door. He squinted his eyes trying to focus to the light. Then struggled down the stairs to search for his well deserted food. He spent so much time in darkness he  couldn’t see in light very well. His mother always thought there was something wrong with him. She was certain he was depressed, everyone somehow links darkness with depression. But Mathew was completely content with his love of games. His mother just didn’t understand…
